Evaluation
The comprehensive O.T. evaluation process begins with information gathering through a parent interview and review of medical and educational records. Next, an in-person evaluation is conducted in a playful setting at the Joyful Connections clinic. The assessment includes examination of gross motor skills, fine motor skills, neuromuscular status, coordination, sensory processing, and sensory integration skills. The data collected are synthesized into a written report that reflects the child's strengths, areas of need, and clinical recommendations. Finally, we meet to discuss the evaluation results and plan next steps.

Treatment
The frequency and duration of OT treatment sessions are individualized and vary based on the results of the child's evaluation. Individual sessions typically last 30-60 minutes and occur once or twice per week. OT goals will likely focus on improving self-regulation, sensory integration, fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, functional communication, and/or behavioral expression. Parent coaching for home carryover is ongoing and occurs at the conclusion of each treatment session.
