Frequently Asked Questions

Are Joyful Connections services covered by insurance?

Yes! Joyful Connections is now in-network with Aetna and Independence Blue Cross. A doctor's prescription, diagnosis code, and/or a referral may be required to initiate services. Clients are responsible for knowing and following the specific procedures outlined in their insurance plan.

*Note- Joyful Connections is on target to become a Medicaid-based provider in June 2026. Stay Tuned!

What if I don't have Aetna or Independence Blue Cross?

Private-pay clients may use their Health Savings Accounts or Flexible Spending Accounts as options for payment. An invoice or "super bill" will be provided, which you may submit to your insurance company and request reimbursement. Payment in full (via Zelle, Apple Pay, check, credit or debit card) is required when services are rendered.

Do you offer sliding scale fees or payment plans?

Yes. Sliding scale fees are offered based on income level. Payment plans may be arranged based on your needs. Please be open and honest about what is feasible for you.

Can you speak with my child's school or daycare?

Yes. The Joyful Connections approach includes communication and collaboration with other related service providers, teachers, and caregivers. You will need to sign a release form before contact is initiated between Joyful Connections and outside agencies.

How does the client portal work?

The client portal through the Simple Practice platform is a secure, HIPAA-compliant program that allows users to upload and share information safely. Once you have scheduled an evaluation, you will be sent a link and prompted to create a secure password for your portal. The credit or debit card you enter will be encrypted, and all documentation (e.g., progress notes, invoices, etc.) is available through your portal. For private pay clients, the fee for service is automatically debited at the end of the day. Zelle and Apple Pay are also accepted.
